Mokume-gane is a layered metal, historically developed in Japan, resulting in a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. Mokume-gane translates closely to "wood grain metal" and describes the way metal can look like natural wood grain. We typically use a Mokume-gane made from copper, brass, and nickel. We heat-flame our finished coins to bring out the different colors of each metal.
