- 1.75 lb (795 grams) of Pure Copper, 99.9% purity
- 2.25" (5.7 cm) diameter
- Includes a 1" concave copper stand - perfect for displaying, pondering, and spinning your orb.
- Tumbled and polished to a lovely finish.
- Comes securely packed in a black paper tube with gold Shire Post Mint logo and verdigris colored lining.
We cast these large Orbs in house using the pure copper left over from minting our coins. This process ensures copper purity as well as helps us to use our excess material. Once we use up our excess copper, these will go out of stock until we have enough material saved to make another batch.
The Copper Orb can be used in a variety of ways: desk toy, meditation tool, RPG prop, a long-lasting gift, mini shot put training, forbidden cue ball, spiritual hot potato, non-bouncing bouncy ball, hard mode juggling, try to hatch a dragon from it, and more!

Our Process
Shire Post Mint coins are struck one at a time in West Fork, Arkansas, USA using solid metals, hand-engraved designs, antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. For antiqued coins, the coloring/patina process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science so coins will vary slightly. Our unique packaging includes a description of each coin and translations if applicable.

A: Once it's passed through the fabled foundry and skilled hands of the Shire Post Mint.
While a person wouldn't be wrong calling this "a ball of copper," I doubt they'd feel satisfied in the utterance of those words. I believe a ball is best called an orb when you can:
1) easily imagine it cradled by ancient, twisted wood atop a wizard's staff,
2) contemplate the geologic arc of time that carried it from being space dust to resting comfortably in your palm, just by holding it, and
3) occasionally give it a quick sideways glance to ensure it's not levitating
This spherical mass of copper meets all the requisite criteria to be an orb. Plenty of otherwise lovely people likely wouldn't appreciate such an orb...but for those who do, this is The Orb to purchase.

I am a person who collects spheres in all types of minerals.. this is the largest solid copper sphere I have seen. love the stand that comes with is.. let me know if you have a 6inch :)
I am a sculptor in Albuquerque and proposed a copper ball atop a commissioned work. I found ShirePost online and ordered the hammered 2.25" sphere. It arrived and is just perfect in every way! My client's were thrilled when they saw the sphere. Me too! By the way, in speaking with the folks at Shire Post Mint, they were so easy and pleasant to work with.
