The first rune of the Elder Futhark alphabet, Fehu symbolizes a form of abundance and wealth, originally represented by sheep or cattle due to the bounty one could claim from material trade and access to a food source. It commonly characterizes both spiritual and material wealth.
Historically, runes were carved with one chisel, one hammer, and a rock. The designs of the rune reflect the rune carving process and the limitations of the material. To keep with the historic stone-chiseled look, this design was engraved by Mintmaster Woody Maringer using traditional engraving tools.

Shire Post Mint coins are struck one at a time in West Fork, Arkansas, USA using solid metals, hand-engraved designs, antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. For antiqued coins, the coloring/patina process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science so coins will vary slightly. Our unique packaging includes a description of each coin and translations if applicable.
