This set of pure copper coins contains a heavy SHIRE™ Thrup'ny, Shire Penny, Shire Haypenny, and a tiny Shire Farthing. Coin text is inscribed in Tengwar. The coins feature trees including plum, pine, elm, willow, and oak.
The coins in this set from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien are struck from solid copper, measure 1 to 2.2 cm in diameter, and weigh .5 to 7 grams.

Our Process
Shire Post Mint coins are struck one at a time in West Fork, Arkansas, USA using solid metals, hand-engraved designs, antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. For antiqued coins, the coloring/patina process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science so coins will vary slightly. Our unique packaging includes a description of each coin and translations if applicable.

These are so well crafted, they could have indeed come straight from a Shire smithy. They’re currently living as “loose change” on top of a menu from the Prancing Pony in a corner of my smial.

I ordered two of these sets to use along with some chocolate-covered coins, gold rings, and other treats for a prize box to be found at the end of a treasure hunt after an overnight stay at a Hobbit-house themed Airbnb with our five grandkids. They were intrigued with the unique artistry of the coins, and the details about each one. My dad always had a special stash of commemorative coins, and they were always fun to look through-so I hope the joy has been passed on. These coins are indeed keepsakes; wonderfully crafted.
