Aquarius, the eleventh sign in the Zodiac, is named for the constellation of the water bearer. Aquarius was associated with the annual flood of the Nile River in Ancient Egypt, for the water would rise over the banks when Aquarius poured his vase into the river to begin the springtime. In Greek mythology, Aquarius is sometimes associated with Deucalion, the son of Prometheus, the Titan god of fire. Deucalian and his wife, Pyrrha built a ship to escape an impending epic flood caused by the anger of Zeus.
People born from January 20th-February 18th are considered to have Aquarius as their ‘Sun sign’ - the part of an astrological chart that determines ego, identity, the character one plays in life. ‘Moon sign’ relates to the subconscious, intuition, inner world, and emotional self.
The sign of Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus and the element of air. Those with this Sun sign are often thought of as especially unique, esoteric, and humanitarian individuals. Those with an Aquarius Moon are often thought of as especially observant and independent individuals who truly value personal freedom for self and others.
