    Depicted Fungi:

    Morel (Morchella spp.)

This springtime fungi has quite the reputation for inspiring excitement in foragers, ambition in chefs, and creativity in artists. Rooted in the hearts and tall tales of many, morels only grow wild due to their unique life cycles. Morels are elusive, but seem to bloom best in the face of adversity. There might be fey in your woods who know exactly where to find these woodland jewels. Be warned, we are not liable for forgotten names, stolen livestock, and/or abduction into the faery realm.

    Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)

A vivid, toxic, enchanting icon of yore. It might be tipping its brilliant, red cap at you from the crunchy undergrowth of a forest floor in autumn, nestling in the ethereal green of storybook illustrations, shading frolicking fairies in 19th century oil paintings, or perhaps seating very smart aleck-caterpillars in classic literature. Don’t let this, or its appealing colors give you the wrong idea, fly agarics are the most forbidden of the fruits. They contain dangerous toxins, so best leave them to our slug friends to enjoy.

Coin design by Maggie Ivy, engraved by Woody Maringer.  Learn more about our artists.

    Great Value

The coin itself is lovely and just as advertised, and very nice to feel once it’s in hand. However, I was most impressed by the packaging itself, which stands out as a special touch. Because of the price point, I expected something basic but what arrived was much more and really cool. I appreciate that a lot, and it gave me plenty of reason to shop with them again. Thanks!

Is it weird to say that I love mushrooms?

Answer: who cares? Mushrooms are cool fungi. Morels are great; amanitas are not good to eat, but they have all kinds of lore. Mushrooms are very much an earthy type of flora, so the copper coin possessing these designs is quite filling.
