Leo, the fifth sign in the Zodiac, is named for one of the earliest recognized symbolic constellations. Its representation is associated with the Nemean lion, a vicious beast from Greek Mythology who was undefeatable by human weaponry but ultimately defeated by the demigod, Heracles. It is also believed by some mythologists to be based on the Humbaba, the giant hybrid mythical creature who guarded the Gods’ Cedar Forest in Ancient Mespotamian theology.
People born from July 23rd-August 22nd are considered to have Leo as their ‘Sun sign’ - the part of an astrological chart that determines ego, identity, the character one plays in life. ‘Moon sign’ relates to the subconscious, intuition, inner world, and emotional self.
The sign of Leo is ruled by the Sun and the element of fire. Those with this Sun sign are often thought of as especially loyal, warm-hearted, and theatrical individuals. Those with a Leo Moon are often thought of as especially creative, fair, and gregarious individuals.
